Our Staff

Professional memberships held by the Firm or professional staff include the Personal Financial and Tax Divisions of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Westside Caucus of CPA’s, The Financial Planning Association, and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

Accounting backgrounds of our staff range from working for one of the largest CPA firms in the world, to practicing accounting for a small manufacturing firm. Taxation experience includes Internal Revenue Service approval of qualified pension plans and nonprofit organizations, audit, support for federal, state and local business and individual tax returns and numerous international and estate tax engagements.

Mark Rowland is the President of Rowland Connelly & Associates Inc. and a graduate of Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. Mark obtained his Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting in 1970. After working as a Supervisor Accountant for a major accounting firm, he accepted a position as Controller of a hardware distributing company. Then, in 1976, Mark co-founded the Firm, Bernardi, Rowland & Company, Certified Public Accountants. After 10 years in this association, Mark opened his own firm, Rowland & Associates, in 1986. The Firm was renamed Rowland Connelly & Associates Inc. in 1996. Mark is member of the tax division of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA).

Margaret S. Connelly is Vice President and a Director in our Firm. Margaret joined the Firm in July 1986. She graduated , Magna Cum Laude, from Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1982, with a Bachelor of Administration Degree in Accounting. Margaret is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Margaret is a member of the tax division of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA), the Financial Planning Association and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

James Joyce is a Director at our Firm, joining our team in September 1986. He graduated from Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1988, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Jim is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the tax division of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA), and the Cleveland Home Builders Association.

Wendy Joyce is a senior accountant at our Firm. She graduated from Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Marketing, and joined the Firm in August 1999. Wendy is a Certified Public Accountant and has experience with a regional CPA Firm and in industry. Wendy is a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA).

Firm Administrator, Lauri Wellman, and Administrative Assistant, Tara Thomas, provide administrative support to our Firm. Lauri began with the company in October 1989, while Tara joined us in November 1998.

As diverse as our client listing, so too are our fields of accounting expertise. We sustain approximately 90%-95% of our individual clients from one year to the next. And the rate at which we sustain business clients is even greater.
